I swear I didn’t stage this at all. I pulled a card to write about today - my first ‘proper’ post on this new venture of mine. My intention is to draw a card at the start of each week and to use that as a jumping off point for some journaling suggestions to share with you. A sort of ‘card of the week’ if you will.
I picked up one of my favourite decks this morning while I savoured my morning coffee - that first cup is always the best, right - shuffled a little and asked the cards for their best advice on how to approach the week.
And I drew The Fool - literally the card of fresh starts, new beginnings and new journey’s. You honestly couldn’t make it up, but thank you universe as the ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ energy of The Fool is exactly what I needed to hear today.
This new Substack of mine has been sitting patiently in the wings for over a year now. An idea that I have fleshed out so many times, written and re-written so many words and yet it’s never quite come to fruition. It was always not quite the right time, I wasn’t ready, I’d do it next month. There was always a good reason for why now wasn’t the right time - or so I’d tell myself.
But in truth there is never the perfect time, there is just the time we have. And we have to do the best we can with it, with the resources we have available to us.
The Fool reminds us that so many things in life are just a leap of faith. We can’t know with certainty how something will turn out, arguably this is a good thing. We just need to move forward, to do the thing, and by doing so, by taking positive action we help to create and shape our own future.
The Fool isn’t particularly interested in excuses, or your carefully reasoned arguments about why now isn’t the right time, actually.
It just invites you to try, to take a step. What’s the worst that could happen after all?
Journal questions for the week ahead
If you have a spare 5 minutes, why not sit down with a hot drink and your journal and pick one of these questions to reflect on. Spend a few minutes with the energy of The Fool, feel the fear and write it anyway.
🌟 What have you been holding off starting and why? What tiny steps could you take towards making it happen?
🌟 What's the worst that could happen?
🌟 How could you make a bit more space for playfulness in your life? What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but have been too fearful of.
🌟 Make a list of 5-10 things you could do, things that are different and outside of your normal daily activities - now plan one in your diary.
🌟 If you knew you couldn't fail, what would you do?
There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.

The Universe is great at giving us the advice we need 😊.
I love this so much and am so looking forward to your future posts here – it’s inspired me to grab out my cards after a long time not in use.
