The King of Swords (called The Elder here in the Spacious Tarot deck) takes absolutely no prisoners - Swords are sharp and have the knack of cutting through the dead wood to the heart beneath. Whether you want them to or not.
The King of Swords popping up this morning was just what I needed to get out of my own way a little and start to see things clearly.
It’s been a busy and emotionally turbulent few weeks (months) as we prepared to launch both of our boys off to their respective Uni courses. Now they are both departed, safely installed miles away (although trying not to dwell on that part) and I can turn my attention to other matters.
The King of Swords reminds me, perhaps rather uncomfortably that I have been delaying things, putting off making decisions and knuckling down to some disciplined work for too long. It’s very easy to blame others for your procrastination but when those sources are removed then you are faced with the cold and unvarnished truth.
There’s no space for prevarication here.
To try and soften the edges of what can be a fairly uncompromising card at times I drew a card from Yasmin Boland’s Moonology oracle deck which I love for it’s different perspective as well as the beautiful illustrations. I asked the question “How do I get out of my own way and stop overthinking” and wow - thank you cards!
If ever there was a clearer response then I don’t want to hear it.
Your boys are safe.
Everyone is fine
Stop worrying about them and focus on you.
So that’s just what I’m going to do this week.
Mornings are time for phone off, writing, walking and generally brain time. Afternoons (phone on for a quick lunchtime catchup) are for play - for doing things just for me. Whether that looks like reading a book, knitting, taking a jaunt out somewhere - who knows. I’m not going to make any plans I’m just going to see where the mood takes me.
How about you? What might you be able to do this week to get out of your own way a little and start to make some progress in areas that might be a little overlooked.
Why not meet me in the comments and let’s chat.
Afternoon play sounds like a superb idea! My heart sinks when I pull a swords card, my instant response is that it's going to be doom and gloom rather than something that will inspire and uplift me.
Wow, I can't believe you got that Moonology card. Powerful.
