One thing I love about the tarot is the fact that no matter how many times I look at a card I always seem to see something new. It’s as though the universe wants to make a particular point and it will wait until just the right moment to point it out to you.
Sometimes it is subtle and sometimes it’s as subtle as a brick. Today I drew the Seven of Swords in the beautiful Spacious Tarot deck. It’s a card I am very familiar with and it’s cropped up for me quite a lot recently - definitely a message there too - thank you universe.
But how have I never noticed the cracks in the ice which spread from each sword tip? The card depicts seven swords thrust, point first into the ice. Six swords are grouped together - each one causing a sharp, linear crack to form in the otherwise pristine surface.
The seventh sword stands alone, leaning slightly away as if to further emphasise it’s difference. But also, the crack in the ice isn’t linear at all. It is jagged, fractured, definitely different to the others.
What if your journey isn’t meant to be linear?
What if you are meant to figure things out on your own?
What if others see you as standoffish, when really you are just forging your own path?
Being separate, apart from the pack is not without risks, especially in a society where we are encouraged from an early age to conform. But I love this card for reminding us that if we don’t hold ourselves apart, just a little bit at least, then we can’t really show up for others authentically.
I love your thoughtful interpretations of the cards! And I too find something new each time…it’s so wonderful that the cards can speak to us in this way.
